I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.
My surgery date was just set for December 14th, but originally it was supposed to be in July. The reason why it was pushed back is because my chemo was delayed due to my low blood counts. At the time, I was extremely disappointed, but as it turns out, it's probably the best thing that could've happened! I absolutely love summer and if I had had the surgery in July, then I would've spent the rest of the summer recovering rather than making a music video, recording a new single, having fun with friends, opening for Rachel Platten with Heather LaRose, going to the beach, and just living life!! So, as much as I wanted to move forward with my reconstruction, I feel so blessed that everything is happening the way it is. And guess what, today I am going to my first live music festival ever!!! Afropunk!
Treatment update: I had my third treatment of Perception and Perjeta on friday, and the side effects weren't nearly as bad this time! I had my support system of friends and family around me and that's more than I could ever ask for. I have to continue this treatment for the next year and I am about to start my five year tamoxifen treatment.
